Jan 8,2024
From 2 to 4 January 2024, my colleague Leena and I had a good time in Yangshuo, which turns out to be as beautiful as in other seasons. The weather is very pleasant during the day and a bit chilly at night, but much warmer than winter in the north. Personally, I prefer the winter days to the hot summer days in Yangshuo. Another advantage is: There are a lot less travellers in winter and you feel relaxed everywhere you go.
Here I will show you briefly where we went.
First stop: Xianggong Mountain.
The entrance to the official viewpoint was closed on the afternoon of 2 January, so we had to walk to a lower point to get a view:
There were beautiful mountain views on the way.
We had a stop at Xingping Pier:
We arrived at Yangdi Pier and took a ferry across the river to Langshi Village. Yangdi Pier:
Langshi Village (can do hiking up to the mountain):
Laojia Homestay where we stayed (authentic village house, feels like your own home, Laojia means Old Home):
You are supposed to live here as if it is your home - buy groceries, cook and wash your own kitchenwares & tablewares:
The next day we drove to Jiuxian Village:
Secret Garden Hotel where we stayed (very cozy and beautiful, and staff are friendly and helpful):
As you can see, most of our time was spent in the villages. (We did visit some hotels in other parts of Yangshuo).
We had a great time with our client and his kids, local partners including the hotel owners and staff. And the scenery was so beautiful that we didnt have to pay any entrance fees at all to get to other places of interest.
Our client and his kids also enjoyed the trip very much. They stayed in Yangshuo for 6 days and did some bamboo rating trips, went biking, visited the market etc.
A reminder for those wishing to stay in the villages in Yangshuo: before coming to Yangshuo, you should prepare enough Chinese Yuan in cash as there are no banks or ATMs to withdraw cash in the villages and credit cards are not well accepted. Of course if you are able to use wechat/alipay, there will not be any problem.
Yours Sincerely
