All Charmission Trips Go Carbon Neutral

Charmission Updates

Jan 22,2019

Weare proud to announce that from 2018, we will offset the carbon emissions from allof the trips we offer in China. In another word, All Charmission Trips Will Go CarbonNeutral.

Wedo this in collaboration with South Pole (www.southpole.com).It has expertise covering all steps linked to the development and themanagement of carbon credits for emission reduction projects. They cooperatewith technology providers and other project developers to identify and manageemission reduction projects that avoid or reduce the release of greenhousegasses into the atmosphere.

South Pole helps us calculate the carbonemissions from our trips and we then choose to compensate them throughinvesting in some of their projects.

For 2018, the total emissions from Charmissiontrips are 7999 tonnes. Since three of our partners have compensated the Chinapart for us which amounts to 3074 tonnes, we offset the remaining 4925 tonnesof CO2.

From 2019 on, we will offset all emissions fromChina part.

Whichproject do we support?

We support HuoShuiGrouped Hydropower, China. Itmeetsthe following standards:

SC: Social Carbon Standard. Additional qualitylabel on top of VCS, which certifies that the project simultaneously addressesclimate change, supports local communities and smallholders and conservesbiodiversity.

This project consists of multiple small-scale hydropowerplants that generate renewable energy for rural South West China. By supplying clean hydroelectricpower to the local grid, the project displaces greenhouse gas emissions, helping mitigate climate change and improving the lives of local people.
