Charmission Travel Continues to Support China Green Foundation

Charmission Updates

Dec 25,2025

Recently, Charmission Travel donated 42,000 yuan to the "Korean Pine Forest Protection Initiative" launched by the China Green Foundation. The donation is earmarked for the ecological restoration of Korean pine forests and the development of sustainable forestry economy in the eastern Liaoning mountainous area.

As the core area of Liaoning's ecological barrier, the eastern Liaoning mountainous area accounts for 69.1% of the province's forest area and over 90% of its natural secondary forests. It is the habitat for more than 70% of the province's wild flora and fauna, and also serves as a crucial green barrier and important water source for central Liaoning cities and the Liaohe Plain. However, in recent years, affected by natural disasters and human activities, the local forest stands have degraded, forest quality has declined, and the limited tree species diversity has constrained ecological functions such as water conservation, soil retention, carbon sequestration, and oxygen release. Local forest farmers are facing challenges in economic transformation, along with deficiencies in technology and management, impacting both their livelihoods and production activities.

The "Korean Pine Forest Protection Initiative" initiated by the China Green Foundation includes the following key components:

Component 1: Restoration and Quality Enhancement of Degraded Forests

Following the principle of "right tree, right place", the project involves planting native tree species—primarily Korean pine—in designated forest areas to increase forest coverage, rehabilitate degraded woodlands, and improve overall forest structure, thereby enhancing stand quality. It employs near-natural forest management techniques to minimize anthropogenic impacts on nature, fostering a healthier, more stable, and more efficient forest ecosystem.

Component 2: Technology Empowerment and Development of Understory Economy

The initiative cultivates high-quality Korean pine seedlings suited to local conditions, shortening the planting-to-harvest cycle for forest farmers. It collaborates with local forest farmer representatives to support independent afforestation efforts, providing technical and operational guidance. Additionally, it assists local communities in developing income-generating activities such as pine nut harvesting, agricultural product marketing, and ecotourism, while creating employment opportunities to boost household income.

Expected Project Outcomes

Outcome 1: Creating a Landscape of Restored Degraded Forests to Enhance Ecological Quality

The project spans 5 years. By Year 3, a model demonstration forest will be established to showcase initial results of degraded forest restoration. The forest ecosystem will begin to show improvement and gradually move towards stability. By the completion of the 5-year period, the forest ecosystem is expected to achieve a state of fundamental stability and balance. With the progressive recovery of the forest ecosystem, complementary industries such as ecotourism will be developed, safeguarding the region's natural landscape.

Outcome 2: Establishing a Sustainable, Self-Driven Cycle of Local Community Reforestation

The project will provide annual technical support for afforestation to an average of 10-20 local forest-farming households over 5 years, ultimately engaging 50 to 100 households in total. This support aims to facilitate the restoration of 2000 to 3000 mu (approximately 133 to 200 hectares) of forest. By involving local communities directly in the planting, maintenance, and sustainable use of the forest, the project aims to ensure the continuity and lasting benefits of the degraded forest restoration and quality improvement efforts.

The tourism sector and ecological protection are fundamentally interconnected. Guided by a sustainability core, Charmission Travel will continue its proactive engagement in environmental conservation as an integral part of its future operations.
